Year 3 of the journey …
. So many people seem to be seeking their purpose in life. Purpose, By definition, implies intent. When seeking your life’s purpose, you must ask yourself, “the intent of whom?” You cannot allow your life to be determined by some undefined entity and expect it to have meaning.
. “Meaning for whom?” you may ask. To this I say, “to yourself, to your progeny, and if you so desire, to whichever deity to whom you subscribe.”
. We do not find our purpose. We make our purpose. We do this by living our choices.
. My choices are simple. I work hard at what I do, but I do not live to work. That is not my purpose. I also do not live to sit around my home doing little or nothing that is of value to me. That is also not my purpose. I also do not live to surround myself with others who are Unworthy of my gifts… whose lives do not enhance mine as I hope to enhance theirs.
. I choose to live for experience… to do many things so that I may know all that life is and can be. I choose to live for knowledge so that I may understand life for its beauty and its complexity. I choose to live to create. Much of my purpose is my music. I choose to live for Honor, aligning myself with what I believe to be good and right and Noble, so that I may respect myself and be confident that the person that I choose to be is a person of strong moral character and integrity, one whom I can face in the mirror and about whom I may say, “He is a good man.”
. “This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man.” -Shakespeare
